Mike Testa – MSPT, CSCS
Michael was raised in Rockaway, New Jersey. He earned a BA in Exercise Science from Fort Lewis College in Durango. Michael went on to receive a Master of Science in Physical Therapy degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. He has over 17 years of physical therapy experience, specializing in manual therapy and functional movement. Michael is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), certified in Functional Dry Needling (FDN), and certified in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and Functional Movement Screen (FMS). Michael is also Titleist Performance Institute Certified (TPI) and is excited to help golfers return from injuries and improve their mobility and strength to improve their playing. He enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, golfing, mountain biking as well as singing and playing his guitar.
Amy Testa – MSPT
Owner, Physical Therapist
Amy was born and raised in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. She attended Furman University in Greenville, SC where she earned a BS in Psychology. She received her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. Amy has advanced training in the areas of manual therapy techniques, functional movement and pediatrics. She has over 17 years of experience and specializes in treating the neck and headaches. Amy is certified in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). She enjoys a wide variety of outdoor activities as well as volleyball, traveling, and photography.
Jan Mohan – DPT
Physical Therapist, Pelvic Rehab Specialist
Jan, a native of Dexter, New Mexico, is a 2013 graduate from the University of New Mexico’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program where she finished in the top of her class. Jan began her career in medicine back in 2001 when she earned her associates degree in respiratory therapy from Eastern New Mexico, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2005 from Fort Lewis College in Durango. Jan has taken a strong interest in orthopedics and pelvic floor rehabilitation where she treats many conditions including: postpartum recovery, pelvic pain, pelvic floor weakness, and incoordination dysfunctions. Through education and retraining, she is able to help patients regain bladder control, decrease pain, and improve quality of life. Jan is also certified in Functional Dry Needling (FDN) and the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). Jan and her husband Nathan live in Durango where they can take advantage of telemark skiing, trail running, backpacking, and whitewater rafting.
David McIlwain – DPT
David grew up in North Carolina. He attended Appalachian State University where he received his BS in Exercise Science. He later attended Winston-Salem State University where he earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He has had advanced training in Dry Needling, Running and Gait analysis, blood flow restriction, and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. During his free time he enjoys wood working, backpacking, whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, skiing and doing cannon balls into cold mountain lakes.
Lisa Weber – LMT, BCTMB
Lisa graduated from Bodyworks Massage Institute in Evansville, Indiana in June of 2005 and has been doing massage therapy full time since then. As a Board Certified Massage Therapist since 2007, Lisa’s focus is orthopedic and medical massage. Lisa moved to Durango in 2012 and spends her free time hiking mountain trails, gardening, and in the winter, snowshoeing.
Heather Espeland – MSPT
Heather graduated with honors from New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM in 2002 with a BS in Biology. She attended Texas Women’s University in Houston,TX where she graduated with a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy in 2005. She has since practiced PT in Norway, Texas, and Colorado with a focus in orthopedics and sports therapy. She loves the amazing weather here in Durango and all the outdoor activities around every corner.
Nina Heron – LMT
Nina Heron has been practicing massage therapy and holistic healing for over 20 years. Her integrative approach combines the many modalities she has trained in. Her calm, intuitive presence allows her clients to relax deeply and easily release stress and tension. She combines therapeutic Neuromuscular Therapy with energetic modalities like Acupressure, Reiki, and Jin Shin. She loves to work with essential oils and makes her own salves and therapeutic oils.
Morgin was born and raised in Durango, Colorado. She attended Fort Lewis College and obtained her Associates Degree from Southwest Colorado Community College. Morgin gained her valuable experience in the exciting world of Physical Therapy in Arroyo Grande, California, where she was the front office assistant. She moved back to Durango with her husband in April 2018 to be closer to family, friends and the mountains. In her free time, Morgin enjoys hiking, camping, skiing, traveling, wake boarding and just enjoying the sunshine with her husband Pete and dog, Leo.
Jamie was born and raised in Durango before moving to Fort Collins to pursue her AA in English Literature. She moved back home in 2018 in order to be closer to family and friends. Like any true local, Jamie enjoys spending time hiking or down at the river. When not outdoors, she can be found at home reading a good book or practicing embroidery in the company of her cat, Klaus.
Official Greeter/Therapy Dog
Tilly was born December 14th, 2011 and is originally from Farmington Hill. After years of hard work and determination, Tilly graduated from the greeter apprenticeship program to a position as an Offical Greeter at Advantage Physical Therapy. Her main job duties include making each patient feel welcome, relaxed and appreciated. She spends her free time hiking, swimming, eating, napping and chasing squirrels.
